Cookies and Local Storage

1. What we use

GTLIKE uses a strictly necessary session cookie and local storage for core service functionality. The current public site is not configured to use advertising, behavioural-targeting or third-party analytics cookies.

2. Session cookie

  • gtlike_session — a necessary cookie used for secure authentication and session continuity. It is HttpOnly, uses SameSite=Lax and is also Secure when served over HTTPS.
  • CSRF protection is tied to the secure session and protects sensitive forms and requests from forgery.

3. Game localStorage

  • gtlike_full_* — local game saves for modes/slots and last-position recovery data.
  • gtlike_audio_v2 — sound and volume preferences.
  • gtlike_cookie_notice_v1 — remembers that the cookie information notice was dismissed.

4. Why these technologies are used

They support sign-in, security, saving/restoring gameplay, preferences and avoiding repeated display of the information notice. They are not used to build an advertising profile.

5. How long they remain

The session cookie lasts according to the browser and server session. localStorage remains in that browser until the game or user removes it, the browser/site data is cleared, or the relevant save data is reset.

6. Managing storage

You can remove or block cookies/site data in browser settings. Blocking the necessary session cookie may prevent sign-in. Clearing localStorage may remove local saves and settings; a cloud save may still be available after sign-in if it was successfully synced.

7. Legal basis and consent

Necessary technologies are used to provide the service you request, secure it and perform the contract. Where local law requires consent for a technology, we will obtain it before using any non-essential technology. If analytics, advertising or other optional technologies are added later, this page and the consent mechanism will be updated as required.

8. Worldwide rules

In the EU/EEA and UK we respect rules governing storage/access to information on devices together with GDPR/UK GDPR. Elsewhere, applicable local cookie, electronic-storage and privacy rules apply. Stronger mandatory local protection prevails.
